4/5. It’s one of those family simulators, but MC is a baron and an ex military mage. I like the progression of the story so far, MC is steadily progressing along with his family. Like most simulators, MC simulates future events and chooses certain actions to help develop his territory. (I have read up to chapter 75 now)

I second the 1st novel he commented. Although it’s not exactly a family cultivation. It’s close, mc remains with his family and he becomes patriarch way later and only for a small amount of time.
But it’s a phenomenal novel. One of my favourites. Protect Our Patriarch is another novel which is what you are looking for. The mc is a new leader of the family from beginning. Characters are good, mc is smart and it’s true family simulation. No cheats BTW for this guy, straight up talent which he improves later
