Traveling to the world of cultivating immortals, in the previous life, he was limited by talent and weak heart, so he stopped to form alchemy.
Resurrecting his life, Li An practiced the art of nourishing his life and casting immortals, developed steadily, put his way first, and finally broke through the shackles of the Nascent Soul…
The battle for hegemony has finally come to an end, and the competition of Tianjiao has all withered.
In the ups and downs, who will play and who will play chess behind the scenes.
Only by living to the end, reading all the vicissitudes of life, can you be called a true immortal…
It’s decent..
MC has a cheat that lets him reincarnate after death.
In the ongoing life, mc gets an op cultivation technique that makes his lifespan many times higher than other cultivators and also improves his aptitude as his realm improves.
The mc is extremely patient. He knows when to step back and he doesn’t hesitates to give up even the greatest benifits if the situation requires it.
But that doesn’t mean he is a coward. If anyone gets in his way to immortality the mc doesn’t hesitate to take revenge.
And if he doesn’t have enough strength then mc simply endures and cultivates. He can spend tens of years planning and cultivating UNTILL he gets strong enough. And then he will take revenge in the most brutal manner.
He wouldn’t care if it was his friend, or even someone who loved him. As long as someone causes him even a little bit of loss, even if it’s unintentionally, the mc will never forgive them. He will make sure to kill them.
As for romance, the mc doesn’t care about anyone. He just gets intimate with girls to satisfy his physical needs.
He wouldn’t hesitate to abandon then if the situation requires it.
And the novel is also quite dark.
My only complaint about this novel is the arc in which mc attempts to become an appraiser in a chamber of commerce.
In my opinion he wasted wayy too much time on something that brought him Little to no benifits to his cultivation.
It was completely useless.
He should simply stay quite, hide and cultivate. He has a long lifespan anyway.
I have noticed this a lot in recent novels with this theme and gonna read this one as well but tbh for me this thing already me drop 2 others novel with this theme because tbh at first glace i don’t see anything wrong it with this “concept/theme”.
the problem i see is when the author put this “intimate” lasting like 10-20-30-50 years together and then boom it explodes like the entire “relationship” lasted one night and the mc can not do even move one finger that would give him HUGE benefits and then he move away and tbh for me this is complete stupid in so many levels.
Even if we take in consideration the most raw truth there is for them getting together that is the mc wants to “satisfy” his physical needs, like you wrote: in the end of the day if you find “someone” capable of satisfying your “needs” for such a long time, it’s enough and have enough value in itself.
thus is worth doing at least the bare minimum to keep it going forward as long it does not conflicts with your goal of cultivating and even more if you can ” take” “more” benefits by having them, like they have extra jobs if you get what i mean (but real jobs this time) that benefits you in the long run , instead of “trying” to change girls/place every time the author makes the mc “move around”.. because this act in itself is risk, complicate and in the end can cause even bigger exposure and problems and the only reason it does not happen is because of a crap plot armor/writing by the author.
this is why i dropped some novels with this sh*t behavior, again the problem is not wanting romance, or even just wanting some “relief”, i’m not complaining about this even if it looks a misogynistic talking about woman like a piece of meat in this comment but is like you wrote here:
would not be far easier if you “get” a girl for example, that can “satisfy” your needs and then “stay quiet”, hide and cultivate?? instead of going around doing everything by himself, alone, having risks here and there? when the biggest benefit is your lifespan?? the same applies to secondary underlings sometimes, the biggest benefit of lifespan is the ability to “raise” a talented team and make them “feedback” high level resources that other hand would be hard for you to get because you slow cultivation, because they can “reach” that stage earlier.
again i’m not saying that you need to “carry” a heavy weight and go around sacrificing yourself for X ou Y, i understand when the author writes a mc that is logical, smart, and most important have a goal but at the same time if you “keep” having the mc side tracking all the time like you wrote here:
or so he can “get” a new girl in the new place or because he is in a ” new environment” or things like that goes complete against the concept of being “logical, and smart” since it would have been a lot better, less risk and with less exposure of “knowing” new cultivators, if he at least did the bare minimum to keep some “talents” around HIM instead that could do this and boost HIS cultivation speed and resources and this includes a chick for his “needs” as well too , in the end a smart, logical and goal focused mc main characteristic should be a “balanced mindset”, is not about not acting, or hiding himself in the woods but how much you can gain vs the efforts you can put into it and most important with the risk involved, if the target is trust worth and can “feedback” decades of helping for example is worth investing because the payback will be huge given if you sacrifice a little lifespan or “knowledge” that you are OP dude but 99,99% of the author forgets about this in those “long lifespan” novels recently , even more when talking about chicks..
> would not be far easier if you βgetβ a girl for example, that can βsatisfyβ your needs and then βstay quietβ, hide and cultivate
Yes, but the mc doesn’t trust anyone. He never leaves his life in the hands of another. And mc doesn’t even chase girls. He simply fucks the one that chases him. And that’s it.
> the problem i see is when the author put this βintimateβ lasting like 10-20-30-50 years together and then boom it explodes like the entire βrelationshipβ lasted one night and the mc can not do even move one finger that would give him HUGE benefits and then he move away and tbh for me this is complete stupid in so many levels
There’s nothing like that here, the mc opens a shop. The girls falls in love with him, mc has sex with her.
MC and her love in the same shop and cultivate. The girl starts to lag behind him, she leaves and mc simply let’s her go without feeling anything. Because he didn’t think of her as anything nore than sexual partner.
And MC doesn’t need any “talent” around him to “boost” his cultivation speed.
His lifespan is soo long that he can simply hide and cultivate to the highest realm on his own. Not to mention his talent also increases with his cultivation.
And again, mc doesn’t trust anyone. Because even his closest friends betrayed him.
One of his friends wants to capture him and hand him over to enemies for money.
Other friend abandons him and runs away with a beautiful looking slut.
Anither female friend steals his foundation establishment pill.
And let me remind you, they had decades long friendship.
Another girl starts hating him after he saved her from the doors of death (during the chambers of commerce arc.)
So yes..mc doesn’t think it’s worth it to “recruit” anyone. Because humans are selfish.
All in all mc doesn’t need to recruit anyone, because he already has the capability to cultivate to the highest realm on his own. It will take time. But he will eventually do it.
>And again, mc doesnβt trust anyone. Because even his closest friends betrayed him.
my msg was more or less about the entire genre in itself, not this novel in specific, but all “the” novels we have been seeing lately with this theme and if you think about it in the end is never about trust really.
those novels are cultivation novels, the mc have inheritance of centuries.. and he does not know one single “contract-slave” type ban??? to use earlier on? complete unrealistic..even more when those “skills” “pop up” all the time in the novels, all of them and this includes those ones we all are talking about too.. get those who you can trust and is impossible to “leak” the secret and make it even more “fool/betrayer proof” if it was not ‘clear” in my previous msg.
this is after all a cultivation world, there’s dozen ways to guarantee loyalty and yes, even more ways to break them but given that the mc have far higher knowledge and comes from a stronger cultivation society in 99% of times.. is just unrealistic that he don’t know any nor he not have any means to guarantee his secrets will never be leaked by them and this includes bans like sealing memory for example.. in other word just bad writing.
plus there’s in the end a difference between friendship and relationship, what you wrote was pretty much a friendship “only” and i never said for the mc to go around saving everyone or becoming a messias to his friends.. all the ones you wrote are more on friend side even if they are longer it not means a lot , a cultivator can recluse himself for 5-10 years thus decades is nothing in the name of “friendship” is “only” what you do that matters and this includes of course, becoming “intimate” with each other thus breaking the barrier from a friend to a lover even if is “only” for sex is thousand times harder because you just need to imagine that for example: a lover is so close to you that it have hundreds of ways to kill you that a friend can never do or even be able to do.
having a “lover” for a year, close contact and f*cking every now and then is worth “centuries” of a normal friendship or even “life and death” helping hand type of situation just because there’s literately “thousands” times more chances for that lover to kill you up and betray you to get your treasures-secrets or even “discover” them something a friend, that maintain a respectful distance will never have, they are on complete different levels of trust and “relationship” even if is just a “fling”
thus what i wrote was about this type of situation, since we had been talking about “s*x” females, and i briefly mentioned “underlings” in other words people with “bans” (if they get “too” close), the only ONE who truly fit the category i mentioned and you wrote about was this one:
i have not read so far yet but i refuse to believe that there’s really nothing the mc could have done to help her “keep up” where he would “pay” a little bit and receive huge benefits back..
after all i have read past talisman hall arc and is following pretty much the standard of all others..
in other words: the mc refuses to give/show a “inch” in helping even with a “small” things that would be worth dozen times in feedback to him and involves pretty much 0 “REAL” risks.
looking back at this situation here you wrote: if she was truly in love and worth the trust , the easier and cheapest ways for the mc to help her caught up, would be if he “trained” her directly, given the mc was peak golden core.. as long he helped her solve her problems in cultivation would make her speed grown by a lot.. or better yet give one of his high level golden core techniques to her, if she is really safe and trustworthy enough (break it up, in levels and give only “current level” to her) and even say is just a fragment he found, by the time she finished qi refiner (decades) then he could give the next part and so on if she is still worth.
because again even if i have not read so far yet i have read enough to know that the ones who can have contact with the mc because of how he portray himself, is not getting attention or even “good” enough cultivation techniques, in other words: are people from the “bottom-outcasts” too, just like his “disguise” is.
thus i will give a guess and say that he have not even “tried the basic” like “helping” her in training her cultivation techniques, something that any logical person knows that: this chick is “lagging behind””= he have better wisdom-talent than her= is not wrong for him to “help-explain-teach” her thus vastly increasing her cultivation speed/ability or even “power” level (battle skills) by receiving a 1×1 teaching experience from him, even more when you consider his hidden background as golden core, that would in turn make sure she can “keep up” and probably even “surpass” a lot of people, after all: the mc is “disguising” himself as bottom-middle level, he don’t even need to go so far in his “golden core” knowledge to allow her to “keep up” with his “disguise, only really basic qi refiner stuff and some basic battle skills stuff in 1×1 teaching would be enough, since his “Basic” is of far higher level than qi and even foundation.
i’m not saying that the mc should reveal himself put a ban on her and ride to sunset together but just give that ” small push” that she needs to “keep up” with his “disguise”.. and maybe in the future yeah, invest more if she keep showing her value and with “only” his basic lecture already can increase her value by a lot.
I just have not read so far, thus i don’t know if she was worth the “help” or not just to make it clear.. thus i’m not criticizing his choice of letting her go, like i said i believe i made it very clear:
what i wrote is not about being a saint, or go around saving people but look at the situation around him with the wisdom of someone who lived for centuries, in other word: looking at the situation with what he can gain vs what he “paid”, if he could for example: help this chick becoming the “cultivator face” as he hides himself, without no one knowing besides her.. would be far more favorable in the long run for him,.
just a special attention to this section: i vastly disagree with you, this novel by the chapters i have read is a “resources” type of novel, where you need to eat spirit food, use spirit stones.. instead of simple “sucking qi”.. in other words: is complete unrealistic if the mc can “reach” the pinnacle in a novel like this by “himself-alone”,unless the author uses plot armor..
the mc was a golden core.. how many golden cores there’s in this region-domain-sect he lives?? how many had better talents (without needing to upgrade the talent, like he is doing that will take decades if not centuries to really bring a result?) plus better and higher resources all their lives, how many had “peak” talents from to get go?, something that the mc will only get very later on?? and still stopped at that lvl?? because of rare higher level resources.
plus all of them “consuming” resources of a entire region as top power or a “faction” and yet stopped at peak golden core-nascent soul etc?? others being trained by nascent souls in their sects as direct disciples or relatives: something the mc never even touched EVER and yet it seems “fine” that the mc can overcome those genius?? just because he was a golden core in his previous life?? a golden core “helped” by resources of the family as stated, born in a good family that nurtured him.. something that he does not have now.. in other words having to “walk” alone and fight for everything, thus delaying the training time.
it just makes 0 sense that anyone can really advance “alone” in this type of novels .. even if you give more lifespan than a normal cultivator and the author make use of this “lifespan”,in other words, really make him “old” instead of making he still advance in a “reasonable” but “slowly” pace..
because is illogical even if the mc have 3-4 times the lifespan of “same” realm for example let’s say golden core, how many generations of “golden core” some of those factions had? and yet never produced a nascent soul because it needs special nascent soul resources? some of them even with dozen golden cores simultaneous for generation and 0 nascent soul treasures-pills, is simple illogical.
At “higher” level the “advantages” of the mc decreases by a LOT.. in other words: is fine to be better-stronger, take advantage of his experience in qi refiner, even a little at foundation but by the time it reaches golden core, or even when talking with people of a higher faction than his “previous” life like nascent soul factions genius backed by entire domains, what advantage he have?? the real advantage is only lifespan but how many authors really makes the mc “Uses” this lifespan for REAL??
is like it’s said in this novel as well: cultivation is about luck-talent-land, where land represents resources.. in novels like this one: that is “resource” based.. there’s a limit of how far you can go without those resources and most important there’s always a “ban/Monopoly” in those resources at higher level .. it may be fine earlier on but as you grown stronger and resources becomes “rarer” for high lvl cultivator is just “plot armor” written by those authors that allows the mc still being strong and advancing “alone”, getting “Luck” every now and then and getting those things.. ALL THE TIME..
to avoid plot armor in this “type of longevity-resources based” novels there’s only 2 logical paths:
or the mc becomes a “hermit”, slowly grind it out HARD.. like qi refiner is 200 years.. the mc accumulates for 200 years+ .. foundation is 500 years.. the mc accumulates for 1k+ because he choose to become a “hermit”,hide himself and his talent and goes direct to the “source” slowly grinding it, maybe even without “pills” for example like “ancient” cultivators that advances without needing pills or shit like that, using his lifespan to accumulate enough to not need pills-medicines to break bottlenecks-advancements
or the author throw’s a plot armor in there in the form of “luck”, making him get that “rare” resource at “Low level”, sometimes even “advancing” in a not so slow speed: exactly like the author did here: allowing the mc to get that 4 rank 2 material for foundation pill with such a luck by making this “special snowflake of mc” capable of breaking formation” exactly in the mountain farm, where there’s only 2 handyman disciples and one deacon in charge that is a “criminal”, because the “mc” selected that place becoming the third handyman in other words there’s only 2 selected, where the deacon even planned to “backstab” the mastermind behind: because when the mc got the fruit he said that the dude used “ripening” agent because the fruits had been mature when he attacked, something that was not suppose to happen based on his previous observation: also confirmed by the “mastermind” behind stating that he should have used the “ripening” agent and got the fruits but have not thus was lacking 7 days.. in other words: the sh*t deacon there backstabbed them and used rippening agent without their knowledge and probably was planning to run after the beast attack but in the end everything belonged to the mc.. a qi refiner 3.
At qi refiner, it may even be “acceptable” that he can go alone and got some “luck” in getting foundation resources but as the realm grow, the resources are rarer, and more monopolized by factions, if it was so easy for a low level get his hands on it it would break the logic of the world itself and the logic of the world is how i wrote here: resources are rare, some factions controls entire “domains”, a entire DOMAIN working to raise one nascent soul, or entire countries/factions/families with dozen foundations-false cores making “Money” every day to raise one golden core.. but authors wants us to believe that the mc can do it: using just a slightly higher age not hard grinding like i wrote there) and still “hiding” himself in reclusion??
I will even give you that: there’s nothing wrong if the mc stumbled in a a high level resource as “low level cultivator” but how luck can a man be since the author makes they “stumble on it” all the time in a very “short” time sometimes allowing them to even advance in a reasonable speed instead of using their lifespan, in other words to avoid be bad writing-plot armor and maintain a logical consistence those “encounters” of the mc (that refuses to go in adventures) would need to be spread by decades, sometimes centuries: maintaining what i wrote there above: qi refiner lifespan 200years: the mc takes 200+ and so on to make sense at minimum, if not there’s no other way around: or get a small super elite team controlled by you to expand and go after those resources or grind it hard with the lifespan.
If your Message is not directed towards this novel then I have no need to correct anything.
Just because novels have same genre doesn’t mean they are written similarly.
Whatever problems of the genre you mentioned have been dealt with in this novel with appropriate reasons.
i hope so, gonna keep reading and check it out but just to make it clear, what i wrote in my previous msg was directed toward this novel in itself, Not at the genre as the first one.
i wrote based on what you said about the friends-chick and everything else that i have been seeing-reading together so far.. i must say that he have not “dealt” with it.. maybe we just need to agree to disagree in this point.. after all you even called some of those earlier guys as his “friends” as way to counter argument what i wrote but outside of tan girl that formed a real relationship with him, they are at beast colleagues.. the refiner comes close second as “possible” friend but in reality the only reason the mc still is willingly to keep contact with him is because he is implied to have the “pure heart” type of personality, thus the mc feel at ease with him and is willingly to do bare minimum, where zhao and even the MU girl, was never his friends, the zhao dude even only surrendered to the circumstances and choose to “Lick” his wounds with the group but never a friend to him even so that he did not even send a “letter” to him later on, so is no surprise that they can betray him and is not worth of helping, on the other hand the tan girl deserved more, a lot more..
the author have copied a lot of the common mistakes made by all others, like the mc getting his hand on super high level resources, even if he is at low level because of “luck” when it makes 0 sense for the entire thing to be there in the first place, not moving a inch when it can give infinite benefits and 0 risks, and i’m not even talking about for example in going in a “adventure” that is “risk” but very basic stuff really because his strategy is as stated by the author with his monologue: be at bottom!
plus if all of this was not enough, the supposed “slow” cultivation of his technique in exchange for lifespan, is not being really “slow”.. all his friends, are really putting effort in their cultivation and in turn is receiving more resources be in sect or by their families and advancing at faster speed than him, true, but the mc is barely doing the minimum in getting anything and once you look back at his “handyman” period that put him behind for more than 2 years without sh*t only eating rice that he have not used to cultivate and bugs without getting anything to cultivate like a “normal” user.. and then a one more year later as chief in charge getting a super low basic salary (lower than his friends disciples month salary) that allowed him to at least keep the peace of “full” spirit stones cultivation (5 spirit stones per month as stated that he uses once he had add the sales of talisman) something all his friends had being doing since day1 because even their basic salary is higher than that and then when moving to talisman hall and beyond he keep the same way, the only difference his salary increased thus was enough for monthly cultivation and the “earned money” for example was put in body cultivation after a few years there but this is not “reflected” in qi cultivation and is even barely enough for that because according to him: he is controlling the volume of sales , only “enough” for those things and even taking longer than middle level talented level disciple speed of making money thus he keeps doing the bare minimum in it!
where all his friends are not, one seems to have a fling with a family of a elder and is implied to get resources, one becoming a mini genius in the artifact hall, another his father became patriarch of the foundation family giving him a lot more resources and the list goes on thus looking at his earlier delay plus the effort put by him, his realm is not slow at all , after all even as chief in charge using the basic spirit stone monthly to speed it up, was lower than the salary/money that his friend had been getting so far for a couple years, plus since i mentioned “chief in charge”< he reached the same realm as him in a couple years once out of the ditch and start doing the "bare minimum".. where given this guy position at that time as introduced, the secret and the flying treasure worth hundreds of spirit stones plus dozen pills spirit bag and a lot of sh*t the mc “dumped”, is safe to assume that dude was doing "fine" in being underling in his faction to be re used and put there and was in fact being "paid" enough for that.. in other words: receiving more than what the mc was-is getting in same period, a lot more, hell that flying treasure alone was worth multiple times the earned spirit stones of the mc in 10 years and yet was overcome so faster by his "slowly" cultivation technique in a fraction of the time needed by him.. the only reason he really have not overcome his friends yet given the speed the author had written this earlier stage is because they are in fact working for it and have their own “background” like becoming the mistress of that dude from elder family or simple being a mini genius himself or having foundation family as backing.. where the mc is not and doing the bare minimum alone, hell even stated by the author to be bottom level of the sect and doing work (controlling sales etc) to be at bottom middle level talent.
i do hope this changes later on to reflects what the author have written and i won't do pre judgment for future realms and i will keep reading but at earlier ones, without doubt is not even close to really being "slowly", at least not enough to justify what the author wrote about techniques and the world building thus making the very same silly mistakes like all others i even remember that in another novel posted on this website another user wrote the same in a review about this, thus i’m not even alone in seeing those “mistakes”, is just that this novel is a lot darker and others have seen this as “realistic” but tbh honest i agree with it is a lot darker but i feel that darkness show here is very exaggerate and misplaced like for example the fate of MU girl.. she was also yellow grade middle spirit root, later on when the mc found the other chick gu hong as middle grade it was clear written that middle grade is a genius level talent for the sect.. how can a genius level “talent” be played like that?? this type of exaggeration and out of place does not make me think is “realistic” like others, instead it looks anything but realistic.
I just want to correct that the Mc doesn’t have a cheat to keep reincarnating ( as far as I read which is like 206), while I don’t want to exactly spoil he does start caring about one person who decided to sacrifice their selves to buy him time even though it wasn’t agreed upon when they were planning, and he doesn’t sleep with most the women for a the sex, some he did for benefits, and some just because there was no loss, but he never harmed them( unless needed/or they did first), and it isn’t really dark, just more realistic ( the relationships, not only with women )
Indeed. It’s just, the way MC’s male friend enslaved and tortured the female friend and her daughter after her husband died really made me feel chills XD.
Though one could say that she deserved it.
well guys how about this let me give you a novel that is extraordinary ‘ solitary sword god ‘
Give me link please
Why is it all of a sudden everyone started writing so talkative reviews my tongue got tired reading the reviews lolllll
Good novel
Saw till chapter 36 mc is dark no sign of heroine thank God basically what the author does is he kills potential heroines in the worst way possible the first one was raped and he basically killed her because the guy she was fucking wanted to kill him. Now the next potential heroine he basically cut her off showing her they’re not in the same rank and it looks like her partner wants to use her in demonic cultivation.
All in all one of the few good ones nowadays.
Ps throw maths out of the window if you want to enjoy this novel. The author’s writing or at least concept is amazing.
My guy wasted his whole life he did not come back with alchemy talisman or formation inheritance this is too sad but at least he is ruthless I guess he got something.
crudo
crudo
It okay not like most trash here, but really fail to stand out in any way. His cheat is also very standard even very old trope of high level cultivator being reincarnated just the difference is double reincarnation (Earth -cultivation world- cultivation word) but you can just ignore that he is a modern person it’s there just for show.
Past life he was just an golden core from an cultivation family but author didn’t even bother elaborating on that as we don’t even the family’s name. He biggest relience is an cultivation techniques he which also your run of mill wood techniques which increases lifespan an aptitude which ever other novel uses nowadays but on steroids, want to hide for enemies several realm above no problem, want to stop Demonic qi no problem, divine soul is attacked no problem let me boost it so become Powerful, in short it is just an plot device used by author for convience. Also mc also say he will be low but always end up being the eye of the storm, he has cultivated many fighting techniques but didn’t even seen him use them once because he just uses talisman and formation to fight in short he just throws money at enemies which not very interesting to read as author don’t seems to have ability write good fingts.
There even more things to rant about but don’t want waste more of my time than i already have.
shows some promise but there are too many logic problems in how cultivators do things and nonsensical decisions made by MC
the sect mc is in has rampant corruption and demon cultivators freely walking around, but we also hear about how bad and horrible demon cultivators are outside of the sect… really annoyed when I see this.
the whole point of a longer lifespan and staying lowkey to cultivate is ignored
he doesn’t show off genius as a talisman master so he doesn’t get resources
but he still causes trouble and becomes well-known and involved in a bunch of messy things…
he’s involved in trouble anyways, but doesn’t get resources because of decisions to be “low-key”
Bruh, please elaborate where did mc cause trouble?
As far as I remember, the mc literally spent his whole life hiding in his small shop, but demonic cultivators literally came to his door.
Do you really want him to just stand there and die without fighting?
Lol
I’m probably biased because I see these novels with good potential, but they just fail to stick to the theme of being calm and steady, relying on longevity to cultivate
wanting a higher grade talisman pen even tho it’s useless and getting further involved with those women, just take the reputation hit and say no I’m too weak, but he doesn’t do that even though it would solve the problem
becoming a talisman apprentice in the first place is a mistake since he doesn’t want to show off his “genius talent” …. it’s enough to make talismans to kill the poisoned guy and then “give up” on making talismans because he doesn’t earn enough money
just be a normal outer sect disciple, yea you need resources and shit, but even a random nobody can embezzle spirit stones in that corrupt sect, and MC has shown he doesn’t mind doing it either, so why not become a spirit farm manager or something similar, you only need 4th lvl QI cultivation (or maybe less)
it’s extremely unreasonable to only have 1 spirit farm and only plant rice, there are likely many
what made me stop reading was that whole “black-hearted talisman master” just say he noticed the demon cultivator…
but no, pretend not to know and be greedy… he literally sold hundreds of fake talismans for money, and it’s treated like a joke… how much future profit will be lost due to bad reputation?
he does “demonic” cultivation with the girl in the talisman shop, well let’s just hope he’s not found out… but even if he’s not found out because of his cheat method, what about the girl???
I also dislike how he handled the girl in the ring, seriously just let her die… it’s been years who knows the current situation of that pill master?
saving her when sects supposedly have (nonsensical) amazing spying and intelligence abilities is a huge risk for very low rewards since he supposedly has knowledge of all side occupations from his past life
that was in fact very awful written, everything from planning to execution, to the entire conclusion that the author wrote.
there’s a lot of problems left and right like you wrote but just a little interlude: the girl in the ring was kidnapped less than a year ago i think by the reward notice post thus was very recently later on the mc keep her for almost a year before “letting” go this is why she was “gone” for so long .. but going on, i agree that there’s a lot of flaws and most of the mc decisions makes 0 sense.
i don’t understand why people think this novel is better like that spirit chart for example, based on note and some comments.. this one is ruthless but is more like “it seems “smart-dark-” type of novel until you really look at it at deep level and it is just dumb..where that one have problems but not even close to “dumb” type of situation like here.
starting from when the mc entered the sect to later on there’s a lot of “plot armor” events.. like who the hell would care how a newbie, qi refiner 1 like the mc recovered his spirit root? in a sect with thousands of users?? i admit that his plan was logical and well made but there’s 0 reason to go so far with it and trying to lure the chief disciple chick.. 0 reasons for all of that past their initial interaction, or even really go so far as he did, that is a problem and a flaw itself (plot armor).
yeah he recovered BUT any sh*t history he invented would be fine as long it made a little sense… he was after all a qi refiner lvl 1.. as long he keep his head low after recovering, everyone would just think it was luck, any excuse would work because in the world building introduced in the novel he was pretty much a nobody and in reality the way the mc “planned” everything is a flaw itself because the more “events” that happens the stranger it is and it happened a lot with the mc, a lot, pretty much all the time really, every event the mc got luck in the “eyes” of “outsiders”, meeting chief disciple “gifting” things to make relationship , getting to know about the plant, buying the right plant, failing in a hole at the right moment, failing from a Cliff.. greedy for money.. etc. this is “how” everyone sees the mc cultivation journey, even IF we as reader know is “Planned” but as outsider once you put everything together it becomes a huge flaw, instead of simple being “luck”.
thus the biggest reasonable plan was in fact being “dumb” about it and keep it simple and then lay low or being good enough to justify the exposure with reasonable limits to take charge in those corruptions as well to safeguard himself, what he did was complete ridiculous once you put all together, after all how the author expects us to care or need all those plans the mc made: when like you wrote, the sheer amount of corruption in the sect allows even a bag of crap qi refiner lvl 4 to “abuse” it’s rules and mutilate disciples??.. this is such extraordinary strange and out of tune that makes so that would not be a problem for the mc somehow get luck and recovery by buying random plants with his own knowledge of buying the right one like he did, stating he heard some random disciple selling to him that is good, he could very well even “induce” those “shady” disciples in thinking they are tricking him or avoid them later all together, the sect have thousands of cultivators.. instead of trying to have contact with chief disciple and as long he keep it low to himself in the “farm mountain” no one would ever discover until was too late!
after all think about it : there’s only 2 handyman send to the farm zone from the entire “disciple” selection the mc participate, that only happen every couple years ,3 because the mc choose to go there, imagine if a qi4 was “allowed” to somehow “destroy” the two handy mans like is nothing for the lolz?? because the guy crippled the leg of one of them , and made the girl his bed pillow r*p*ng almost every night and poisoned her..
this is not a demonic sect, those handyman are still “disciples” and most important there’s still the 3 “years” training protection for them until they had to decide where to go later in registration etc. only after that they are “truly” let loose in a sense once they failed to reach the requirements of any “hall”, thus if they want to stay> they need to “work” type of situation, in other words: if the guy had at least waited for the protection-training period to be over would be fine but he starts it from day 1 where 3 years later those same handyman needs to “report” in the sect so what the dude gonna do, after he “destroyed” them??, thus in a sect like that is just ridiculous really that it needs to go so far to “hide”-“find” a excuse for his recovery beyond a reasonable explanation because the water is already “muddy” enough, thus would be better to do one “luck” thing(recovery his spirit root) and then “vanish” lay low and wait some years until the 3 years period is over or a opportunity shows itself or do a dumb luck-recovery and shows reasonable talent to abuse the system as well by becoming his own “king”, like that qi4 dude in a farm mountain..away from everyone else.
the mc own behavior is full of holes, like you said: he insist in showing talisman talent but instead states to “show” a “bottom” level compared to even other outer sect talisman talents and this also reflects in the amount of resources he can get too as stated in the novel but here is the problem: he uses this supposed “talisman” talent to attract the chief outer sect disciple chick to him as form of half backing as a “pillar of his entire outer sect adventure” but with the way the author made sure to write about how he was “only” at bottom level making super crap-simplest talisman there is , it makes 0 sense that a chief disciple of outer sect, even above disciples of talisman hall would be interested in someone like him even with all the “methods” or “bribes” he made in between.
She as chief disciple was even “sisters” with one of the genius of talisman hall.. a bottom feeder talent like the mc (showed) should not be even close to move her! but what we have is he putting himself on the spotlight, getting attention of “chief disciple chick” of the outer sect.. then maintain a relationship with her by sending gifts.. get the recommendation from said chief disciple to be the “sister” underling now that she is moving to inner sect, “joining” the drama with the sister, creating more plot armor(luck) moments with the sister and the list goes on, all of this can easily be backtracked by anyone with interests to know because this was the mc own plan but this is the problem by checking the amount of “luck events” that happened in the mc journey, makes so for anyone who check it to doubt if it was really “luck” that he “got” or not but no one does it or cares , they see all those tricks and luck, simple as as that.. and makes 0 sense, besides plot armor in itself and i won’t even start to write how the mc’s piss in a piece of clothe around a bottle that have been rubbed with a special scent that attracts a beast can avoid/stop the detection of “said” peak rank 1 beast but in the moment the piece of clothes is removed from the bottle, the beast can sniff it with a distance of miles. ps: this was a beast with special trait of smelling, being even able to smell heaven and earth treasures..
after all going so far like he did is a flaw in itself in his plan,he needed to do one thing right for biggest benefit possible or stop doing all those small things all the time and to make it worse is clear stated that he took pretty much 0 real benefits with all this hard work besides what he could have get by himself if he just keep making a reasonable effort, the only benefit hegot from them is her help covering up his “recovery” of spirit root with that “seller” when he was really low level and hard to defend but if he just keep himself in the low it would not even matter, he just needed to play dumb anyway, what the seller would say?? he sold special plant and now he wants revenge, is very silly after all the seller was even crapper position than the mc, he was out of his protection period and had been slavejob type of situation already thus it could be avoided even by buying the plant from multiple dudes, thus no one would even know who made the mistake.
but the author keep pushing the mc forward to the “spotlight”, until he even f*ck the “sister” with demonic techniques that no one “ever” notices forming a relationship with her, where with time the girl really “shows” interest, real interest in him but he does nothing to “grown” together or take advantage of “her” talent to benefit his cultivation like pushing a win-win situation to facilitate his grown or even hers once she have been proven to be trustworthy , he just goes with the flow, fucking left and right, eats her food and still “being” “sh*t” in resources without making any real progress than what he was already having and to make it worse a big plot point was that “the girl in the ring”, still had demonic energy on her from dual cultivation thus the mc had to find high grade pill to relieve and only then he could let her go because of tracking and also so she was not be confused as demonic cultivator.. but the tan chick (sister) he had been fucking for decades, no one notices.
so after all that, with decades of relationship, when is time to make a “profit” and get a real “advantage” for his future because the chick is clear favored to him, after ups and downs, and simple put is time to “invest” so he can collect in the future, he says no and goes the other way around!
thus when is some silly sh*t that gives almost 0 benefits to him, he goes the extra mile in doing it but when there’s a real free long terms benefits to take advantage of he simple let go and to make it worse: everything still works well for him with said “resources” because of plot armor.
when everything in the earlier 50 years of the novel could be “solved”, only by him showing a good talent in talisman dao, and joining that chick to fight against the other dude in talisman hall, thus once they moved away to the shop without “support” of sect and teachings from her master, the chick started to struggle in going forward the mc would take the opportunity here like he did with the relationship earlier on and start to take “control” following the same “flow” as the author wrote changing from “passive” to “active” in the story all the same events but now as active he would not be in the hands of others, just making small changes here and there, mainly with the girl just a nudge here and there with his vast knowledge of rank3 talisman master.. would be more than enough for her to “break” the shackles of being abandoned and even go further and given how the mc would be pivotal with the relationship with her and even going further than what have been written just with small help here and there, he would be able to “Milk” a grade 2 talisman master for centuries to come.. even foundation pill would not be hard for both of them, given the amount of money they are making even with the mc still downplaying his talent as talisman master at that shop, thus “surviving” his weakest moment, he did not even need to help her to foundation or something but would be advised.. he just needed to make sure that “tight” would be there firm and strong and not betraying him, for 50 years+ at his “earlier stage”, since he had lived for centuries and was so smart, how he could not make a “little girl” that was already in love with him be there and stay there for him?? instead the author made he alienate her so much that once the “honeymoon” period was gone, she went back to her “sister” in inner sect after years of relationship but even so still had affection for him by giving him her resources , losing the biggest “tight” he could have created, as he slowly faded in the background for those 50-60 years.
i won’t even start with the entire black hearted talisman master as well, he had mastery of array and talisman, there’s dozen ways for him to destroy their plans and get their resources and yet the author used the most ridiculous way.
like, look how dumb it is: is true that the mc never trusted deeply his so called friends, thus when that “friend”(the one that have a family) tricked him in bringing him home for a few days as way to connect after such long time apart, he was already “aware” that something was strange but you know why the mc survived and escaped so simple, fast and even made a lot of money by robbing their treasures?: because when humiliating’s that mu girl who joined with them at the start, the ” friend” spoke about how he joined the demonic side and how the “demonic side” put a reward for the mc head..thus the chick told her daughters, and the daughter told the mc because HE, the dude: send the daughter for the mc to f*ck because she was a virgin and high talented as way to “delay” until the demonic cultivators got there..
look how dumb it is
TLDR: Faster paced and more linear Reverend Insanity with less worldbuilding, cold and calculating MC that is overly cautious and almost cowardly.
The story gives off a Reverend Insanity vibe where the MC tries to hide his true face and lead people around in circles to his own benefit, his cheat is also very similar to Fang Yuan’s cicada that it help him to circumvent certain conditions in cultivation so he can practice without drawbacks.
That being said the MC has an extremely cowardly personality and is borderline paranoid, the plot then rewards his behavior by letting him foil his enemies schemes due to overpreparation. I binged 200 chapters and so far there is no great shift in his personality, consistency is good.
Although it may not be as well written as Reverend Insanity I appreciate the author’s efforts in attempting to inject some friction to the Mc’s progress.
Translation quality is decent.
I am also looking for novels similar to this since this novel is fairly new and there are only 226 chapters even on 69shu. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Look for a novel called “Struggling in Immortal Cultivation World and Striking Hard in Martial Arts World” on this site.
There are a lots of recommendations of similar novels in the comment section.
Not a good book.
MC seems to have had lived a luxury life that was skipped but the current life is too bad even with a SPECIAL exercise.
MC thinks the world revolves around him and has been acting sus all the time trying to learn everything. It’s almost funny.
Also, didn’t he learn breath hiding exercises at all? Announcing his cultivation breakthrough by screaming… Dumb fuck.
