Description:

At the end of the fifth era, the spiritual world was far away from the mortal world, and the extraordinary began to fall silent.
When the chapter of history turned over more than 300 years after the sixth era, steam technology once again took the lead in the mortal world.
After more than 500 years in the new era, the spirit world is close to the mortal world again, which represents the recovery of the extraordinary.
This is an era of collision between supernatural and steam technology.
The Twelve Hours of the Twelve Months of the Year are high above them. Their existence is different from the gods who are also immortals. They correspond to one month each. There is no distinction between good and evil.
The gods who had disappeared since the end of the fifth era once again extended their tentacles deep into the mortal world.
The five paths of the ancestor, the Holy Spirit, the Witch King, the Sage, and the King of Fighters, which include all extraordinary systems, have been forgotten by the world.
When the tide of the new era emerges, Karin, who has traveled through the virtual kingdom of God for nineteen years, finally embarks on the extraordinary road he has been pursuing so hard.

Karin, did author decide this name or mtl translation? From a positive POV, at least it’s not Karen.

Dude, that’d be a horror story. Imagine,

when all hope was lost, when the tide of the new era emerges, Karen, who has traveled through the virtual “store” of God for nineteen years, finally embarks on the extraordinary road s/he has been pursuing so hard, to the manager.

So far, it looks the work of youngster fan of Lord of the Mysteries who have read tons of novels with Knight & Magus and Cultivation genre.

There isn’t a lack of people who try to combine the concepts in these three, unfortunately it does not go well most of the time.

I am not sure how it would develop, but it seems like the type where mc’s character growth would start from zero and increase together with the plot (or maybe not), I would rather read a mature mc tbh (instead of starting from zero), so I am gonna wait for more accurate reviews, I am counting on you Random Reader πŸ™‚.

Well, I’ll shot out a short review.

We’re introduce to Karin as an inspiring writer, he’s a transmigrator who transported into a body of a baby, we learn he’s an orphan and that he has a golden-finger.
His cheat consists of him going into subconscious state here he has the ability to collect divinity from different ways, belief being one of them. Divinity can heal, strengthen, increase or that’s what he learned so far that it can be used for (later he’ll use it for different things), it’s explained that this is why he could survive as an orphan until he go adopted.

The world itself is in the Victorian era, with steam-punk vibes. As Kennny stated the author is heavily influenced by Cuttlefish That Loves Diving work, which it by itself isn’t bad but I’ll leave you to decide if you like it or not. I’ll give out some examples, “Gods” who are also represented by the months of the year with specific connotations to them similar to Embers Ad Infinitum, Transcendent level that require accumulation of force, ingredients plus special rituals to upgrade similar to Lord of Mysteries.

Introductions to different characters is done ok-ish, we’re presented with the character, a short intro on the relationship if they had any and what they’ve done for MC then back to current action. It’s not bad, just that we could have been told more or done better, per example

Spoiler
MC adopted father wants to transport his soul in MCs body, nothing wrong with it, why you ask? because we’re not emotionally connected to MC yet or have any impact on the betray of the MCs father.
if give it more time the impact would have hit different at least 10-20 chapters of MC and his father doing things together, connecting and creating memories then hit us with the heavy stuff it would have been better.

Anyway, it’s a decent novel, I’m not going to be too hard on this novel, maybe because I’m waiting to stockpile chapters for Lord of Mysteries 2.
This review is based on only 50~ chapters, so discretion is advised.

I’ll give it a 3.8/5, just because I’ve always liked and read a lot of cosmic horrors and any work inspirited from Cuttlefish That Loves Diving will at least have a bit of that (hopefully).

NodNod, on a side note, cuttlefish is the best non-chinese fantasy author I know, if there is a reason why I haven’t read all his works yet (I mean, I haven’t read each and every single one of his novels to completion, but only some of it) then it’s because he focuses on poverty and sadness so much that I feel guilty just by eating food.

It gives me shivers thinking of conditions of people living in middle ages who suffered from war and disaster, it was terrible but realistic, although it was better than ancient china but it hurts more deeply.

Last time I read Lord Of The Mysteries, a minor incident that others easily forget touched my sour spot and it still haunts me till this day!!!

ABC
Remember mc’s landlord, the madam with large white bonkers who loves to show off? He met her when he faked his death, digested joker potion and went to the different city to live. In later stages of story, when destruction happens and everyone was starving for food while some assholes were stacking it in secret? Her husband failed to get food in church and her children were hungry so she had to comply that mf old man’s request to get food for them. This incident ended in just 3-4 lines, no one remembers it but forced sexual harrasment and molestation always touches my reverse scales, I ain’t a gentleman but I got things that triggers me to no end.

Phew, it feels better after sharing things tbh.

Indeed, it’s pretty heavy, I also hate that feeling of helplessness that comes with reading that stuff. I usually read it because I hate it, what I mean by that is that by continuing, I hope to read a culmination of that hateful arc, where that part is fixed or some result was made towards solving it.

Still glad to see that you’re able to talk about it, maybe because we see so much injustice in the world as normally what it’s “popular” to appear on TV-News channels is sad/horrible/tragic -stories/news, propaganda or politics. We hope to read about those things getting fixed solved or interrupted.

This is also the reason why I think we’ve become desensitized to it, because to much is happening all at once all over the world. Anyway, let’s hope the next batch will have some cool novels.

i remember her and her story tbh this is one of the sh*t that i can not understand/accept just like you, maybe i’m a little colder because i believe that everything can be used in a history even such a heavy theme but what i can not accept is illogical-unrealistic use of them and this thing fit’s well in this situation, not the suffering of the side character but the mc response to it in like 90% of the novels written by chinese authors when confronted with a situation similar as written by you, they just move along or worse, like some villains mc’s where they are in the end the ones who pushed the boat along in the first place but even for those guys, there’s need to be a logic with their behavior , there’s alot of documented reasons of why a “villain” is a “villain” and not simple because they do “evil”, humans being are social type of animal this is in our genetics just like a lot of the behavior we have, good and bad, can be traced, thus when the mc let some sh*t happen like the one mentioned in the scene above, when he can do something about because he is almost a god to those people and yet choose to do nothing, it just makes 0 sense.

In the end, is not even about being good a guy or simple being indifferent to the suffering of the world or he is afraid of what can happen later, what i’m saying here is when you are more on the “level” of god vs the others and simple a small move can solve the problem and yet does nothing is simple unrealistic it goes against the entire history of human behavior, one of the most studied subject in our history is about power and comportment derived from it and we can all agree that if you live in a society and become a person of power, real power capable of changing and helping society everyone would do something with the power you have because the act of exercise this power is also build into us as well and without doubt the ones who would receive the biggest benefits would in the end be those who had a connection with you, this is human nature.

again is not about being a white knight and go hunting for people to save or sacrificing yourself to help others but just like the scene mentioned by you, is more along the lines of: i won’t care about the suffering of those around me but if it slaps me in the face, i won’t mind doing something to make it better type of situation the secret word here is exactly that: “slap me in the face” in other words: happens in front of you and what you do once it happens but 90% of the authors, just makes they move along .

How familiar is this feeling of depression (

Spoiler
Especially when in the first chapters, a young girl died because she inhaled something at work, and also after Klein faked his death and arrived in another city, where there was a family that just got out of despair and found hope, and the next moment just again fell into the abyss.

Guys it sucks. There are 5 power levels (Contact, Apprentice, Professional, Mentor and Half-God) and the MC takes almost 200 chapters to level up to Professional. To promote Professional, the guy will collect the power of 5 gods, influence the lives of 1 million people, build a throne with a lot of gold… It’s nonsense, even Klein in Lotm didn’t need so much to become a Half-God and here it’s just for the professional level. The author is crazy.
